wheetabix

Dd is not a great eater. I'm doing a mixture of blw and mush. The only thing she gobbles up for breakfast is wheetabix and banana and toast fingers with butter and philadelphia.

I'm worried about the salt in wheetabix - can you think of anything else she might like?

ready brek has no salt
neither does shredded wheat
i also buy sugar free puffs from tesco (i think from the free from range)

weetabix doesnt have that much salt at all - 2 whole biscuits have a quarter of a gram of salt so 1 biscuit has one eighth of a gram and half a biscuit has only one sixteenth of a gram of salt. There is more salt in a slice of bread than in the weetabix (approx half a gram per slice depending on the loaf)

Apparently, Oatibix has less salt than Weetabix. I got that from a woman at mums and babies group and haven't actually checked it out so it might be a load of rubbish...

Hipp do their own version of Weetabix too, which shouldn't have salt in.

I've been merrily stuffing weetabix down DD since weaning. I spent hours reading all the cereal labels one day and that was my choice.

On that basis, and the basis DD has it every day, I say it's absoultely fine!!

I'm going to continue as she really likes it. I've got some Plum porridge as well to see how that goes down.

Oh yes the plum stuff was what I weaned her on initiaaly - got some free and she seemed to like it - and then onto weetabix. I think the plum stuff is sugar free salt free etc but rather an expensive habit once their appetite kicks in!

Just looked at my packets. The salt content of weetabix and oatibix is near identical - 0.27g in two whole oatibix, 0.24 in two weetabix.
