have you done egg in other forms? cake, pasta, noodles?

FruitynNutty · 04/11/2008 14:01

Scrambled is great for babies!

DS loved this from very early on He eats all kinds of eggs now.

likessleep · 04/11/2008 14:01

my ds is allergic to egg.
paed told me to re-introduce in baked form (i.e. cake) as it is only a tiny amount, so is the 'safest'.
i'd try that and gradually build up.

likessleep · 04/11/2008 14:03

scrambled is great, but i'd only give a small amount if it is the first time with egg. i know my fingers are burnt on this one, but i am sure some countries recommend egg yolk under 1, then yolk and white after 1 (white is more allergenic than the yolk).
i wish i hadn't introduced scrambled egg to my ds when he was 8 months ...

FruitynNutty · 04/11/2008 14:05

Shell001 is there a reason why you haven't introduced egg yet? Does he/you/your family have allergies?
If yes then I agree with likessleep. Otherwise, go for it! Try all sorts

FruitynNutty · 04/11/2008 14:07

Oh dear. Why can't you introduce scrambled under one?
I think the rules have all changed again since DS (3yrs) was a baby. I can't keep up!

filz · 04/11/2008 14:07

i didnt know you had to do this
i just gave him an egg and forgot about it

poor third child

FruitynNutty · 04/11/2008 14:12

I meant "oh dear, what happened with your 8 month ds when you gave him eggs?"

FruitynNutty · 04/11/2008 14:13

Sorry, preg brain you've already said he is allergic, sorry

likessleep · 04/11/2008 14:15

My understanding is that UK guidelines is that eggs are fine 6mths+, providing well cooked.
So we are all doing the 'right' thing. (and eggs are nutritious and convenient and full of iron)
But after my DS had his reaction and I did some research into it, I found out other countries recommend only egg yolk under 1. I thought as Shell hadn't introduced so far, there may be some family allergy?
But I am now paranoid towards the whole egg allergy thing.

likessleep · 04/11/2008 14:16

Fruity - I still have preg brain and i am not even pregnant!

FruitynNutty · 04/11/2008 14:23

Oh right! Ok, well I'll keep an eye out for possible new guidelines when weaning my next one then
Re preg brain, I'm not even sure it left me 3 yrs ago

Shell001 · 04/11/2008 15:47

He has eczema .. but i just was worried about it and never got round to introducing it .. but he has had egg pasta cake and muller rice which contains egg ... so you think whole egg scambled is fine now ?
