It is fun, have loved that dd (2.5 now) just ate with us, by herself (largely). Am looking forward to weaning ds (only 3mths) the same!

ruddynoraaaaaaggggggghhhhh · 04/11/2008 13:32

yay mine just arrived too!! i'm not even weaning anymore, but did blw with dd1 and lots of my friends have asked me about it for their dc. plus, i plan to do it with dc2 too.

book looks good, will read it properly tonight.

babyOcho · 04/11/2008 14:00

first thoughts on the book??

ruddynoraaaaaaggggggghhhhh · 04/11/2008 19:05

ok i've read it.

i like it. great guide for those who know nothing about it at all. plenty FAQs, plenty first food ideas, how to manipulate the food into manageable shapes (i noticed she says stick shaped now rather than chip shaped!!), plus stuff on allergies etc and even nurseries. it satisfies the theoretical side as well as having a sort of step by step guide of sorts.

there's nothing there you wouldn't get from mumsnet or aitch's site though. not that there would be! but it's nice to have things in book form i always think, plus great to lend to people or wave at unhelpful HCPs/MILs etc

babyOcho · 04/11/2008 19:57

I pre-ordered mine on amazon and it's not even shipped yet.

ruddynoraaaaaaggggggghhhhh · 04/11/2008 20:21

you sure? mine was amazon.

babyOcho · 04/11/2008 20:38

Dispatch estimate: 10 Nov 2008

waitingtobloom · 05/11/2008 10:10

Still waiting for mine!

babyOcho · 05/11/2008 10:31

i am not alone!

MrsJamin · 05/11/2008 12:00

they've only got 2 in stock so perhaps they didn't know how popular it was going to be. still deliberating over whether to get it as DS is 10MO now. what does it say about moving onto cutlery, etc?

wastingmyeducation · 05/11/2008 14:20

I'm enjoying it so far. Explains the mechanics of gagging and choking etc. and am about to get to the 'Getting Started' section, which I need as I'm too sleep-deprived to figure it out myself!

Grrrr! I pre-ordered mine from Amazon ages ago and no sight of it yet! Typical Amazon.

babyOcho · 07/11/2008 19:23

Mine shipped today.

wastingmyeducation · 08/11/2008 09:05

All in all I say it's a very good guide to BLW, but we haven't started yet (start today!) and would be interested to see what the experienced BLWers think. The explanations of the whys and hows are clear, but not patronising, and there are lots of good suggestions. I feel more confident going into BLW having read it.

Just the thread I was looking for! DD is 6 months on Friday and are planning on starting BLW next weekend. Will get myself on to Amazon now.

inscotland · 10/11/2008 11:48

I got mine only 2 days after ordering it last week. I think it is a good book and my husband will be reading it this week. He's the one that needs more reassurance about BLW than I do.

babyOcho · 11/11/2008 19:05

it finally arrived this morning.

chatname · 15/11/2008 11:48

I came, I saw, I am ordering (dh is just getting his credit card )
