Hi,

DS2 (9.5 months) is just starting to get into pasta - I have some really nice cream of spinach which mixes with pasta really well....It has salt in it though (no 6 out of 9 ingre) . Do you think it would be OK for him? He doesn't seem to want to be spoon fed veg anymore so need to come up with something

thanks

what is the gram of salt content?

ilovespinach · 26/10/2008 07:52

0.34g per 100g...not sure if this is low or not....

babies under 12 months are recommended not to exceed more than 1g than a day
i am sure that will be fine

crankycrane · 26/10/2008 08:03

that is approx one third of the salt intake for that day

nowwearefour · 26/10/2008 08:04

i wouldnt have given it myself but up to you

ilovespinach · 26/10/2008 08:06

thanks a lot cranky....didn't know about the 1g....

I will try the spinach and then try not to give anything else with salt for the rest of the day.....

the baby won't eat 100g of the sauce though will he?

Looking at it proportionately, he will have at most a table spoon of the sauce so this isn't a great deal of salt imo and is a low salt food.

And to give you some persepective, bread has about 0.8g of salt per 100g but you wouldn't think twice about making him a sandwich.

no problem

my HV told me that

I went to visit him at clinic myself with weaning issues

ledodgy · 26/10/2008 08:11

Yes it's fine give it to him.

CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 26/10/2008 08:24

I would give it, it's not like he's going to eat loads of it.
