Am I weaning too early? Help!

I started weaning DD at 19 wks on advise of HV and other friends with children as she putting everything in her mouth and waking early (5am). She totally breast fed and is now almost 23 wks and weighs about 15 lbs.

Have just been going slow as she doesn't seem that interested - have given her baby rice with breast milk, pureed pear and pureed carrot. She opens her mouth for 2 or 3 spoons and then won't open again unless I give her the spoon to do herself but not a lot of food makes it in!

But... today I gave her carrot about 12pm and then fed 2.30pm. At 3.30pm she sicked up a whole feed with carrot in it - she did this a few days ago as well. I think maybe the puree wasn't fine enough as there were a few bits in it but now am thinking maybe she's not ready for solids as I think she would be quite happy to go without and doesn't seem that bothered.

Am I trying too early and will I damage her digestive system? Should I stop and try again in a few weeks?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
