I met a woman today who started weaning at 2 months 'cos her daughter was ready'. I had been feeling a bit guilty for starting at 24 weeks. Now I feel absolutely fucking virtuos in comparison.

Why do people do it?

Because they want too.

have you seen the bounty/babycentre weaning threads?
10/11 weeks seems quite common - big baby, milk not satisfying, not sleeping through etc etc

sunshine75 · 23/10/2008 18:32

I can sort of understand people doing it at 4 months but 8 weeks!!!

my exp's mum was putting rusks in the bottle from 6 weeks and feeding them solids from 8 weeks. dd is 2o weeks and im only just considering giving her solids. I think i would panic if I had to feed solids to an 8 week old.

I thought you said the other charlotte you were weaning already?

Different people, different decision making i guess.

LOL SMB

Ah I think it were common in them days I was a
"hungry baby" and sure was on baby rice at 8 or so weeks

I find your reaction reassuring having started a thread earlier about my DB and SIL feeding their 13wk old mashed banana and petit filous and deliberately not telling HV.
Nice to know its not just me.

LoveBeingAMummy · 23/10/2008 20:37

OMG why don't people listen to common sense????

At baby clinic today there was a woman feeding a jar of mush to a tiny baby. I don't know how old the baby was but she couldn't sit up and was reclining in a bouncer so didn't look very old.

It made me feel quite sad seeing such a small baby having food shovelled in.
I know I don't know the circumstances so shouldn't judge but...
