Well due to her silent reflux the hospital wanted Iona weaned by 5 months... well she is 5 months today in the last week or so she has really got the hang of eating now and always has 2 meals a day, the last 2 days she has been having 3 meals. the problem now is she obviously doesn't want as much milk! soi what do you do? how much milk do your little ones have? as she just isn't interested in the milk

I was aiming for:

6am - milk

8am - brekfast

10.30am - milk

1pm - lunch

3pm - milk

5pm - dinner

7pm - milk

11pm - milk

so far today had up to breakfast and doesn't want her milk! any suggestions? it seems alot if food/milk to me?

thanks

dd is 6 months and has about 4 milk feeds a day now.

Hello, my ds 2 quickly dropped the amount of milk he was having once eating solids. At first he had mornining milk, mid morning milk and mid afternoon and bedtime bottle.

However, he only had this much for literally a matter of wks and very soon he didnt want mid morning or afternoon milk. Was only interested in morning and bedtime milk.
He started having 5oz ish at each feed and still does(he is one now and i weaned a couple of wks before he was 6mths0

I wouldnt worry too much. Dont forget that you count milk on breakfast cereal etc towards milk intake

Thanks! was wondering how you split those throughout the day?

Just want to clarify that I really wanted to do BLWat 6 months (or later if not ready) - but due to being early and having severe silent reflux the hospital advised to wean early - they suggested 3 months but I decided she was not at all ready then and then started when she was about 4 and a half months...

My ds used to have a bottle when he woke, one about 11am ish , one about 330pm and bedtime one at around 7pm.

Quite quickly he just went to bottle at 7am ish or when he woke and he bedtime one at about 645pm

if your little one is on 3 meals and sleeping through, then you can probably drop the final feed at 11.00pm. Then she'll probably want the morning one more.
At around 6/7 months, I dropped the mid-morning feed and gave a snack (youghurt or something) and still have the midafternoon one, but thats on its way.

I believe they need 18 fl oz of formula or breastmilk until they are 1 but my HV said yoghurt/cheese etc all count towards it

My DD is 5.5months and she now has:

6.30am 7oz milk (finishes it)

7.30am Breakfast (doesnt eat much)

8.30-9.30am nap

10.30am 7oz milk

11am lunch

11.30-1.30pm nap

2.30pm 7oz milk

4.30pm dinner

5.30pm 7oz bedtime milk

She tends to leave half of the bedtime milk now she's on 3 meals but the rest whatever she doesnt finish I use to mix in the baby rice.

Becky77 · 17/11/2008 17:43

Oh and usually an afternoon nap of about half an hour between 3 and 4

sunshine75 · 17/11/2008 18:22

Dd is almost 7 months. We do

7-milk
9 - breakfast
11 - milk
1- lunch
3 - milk
5- tea
7- milk
sometime in the night
(about 3ish) - milk

She is feeding less and less (5 mins ish) at 11 so I guess at some point I will drop it and bring lunch forward. She is only on the 2nd centile though so i want to keep the milk intake up for as long as possible.

I would also love to drop the night feed - any suggestions?

OatcakeCravings · 18/11/2008 16:09

My Ds is 25 weeks and we do:

8am Milk
9.30am Breakfast
1 pm Milk and Lunch
4.30 Dinner
7.30 Milk

He then goes to bed at 8pm 'til 8am. He hasn't had a night feed since he as 12 weeks old.

fairimum · 18/11/2008 20:53

Well we are now doing
7am - milk
8.30 - breakfast - not really interested even if has no milk first thing!
11ish - milk
12.20 - lunch
3.30 - milk
5.30 - dinner
7.30 milk and bed

she ALWAYS wakes about 3am and thinks it is morning - even if do a dream feed at 10 - 11 - 12- 1 makes no difference to her waking, but then she isnt hungry in the morning so don't think she needs it!

Seems to think 3am is morning and wont go back to sleep.... any ideas?
thanks

farimum if you think the 3am wake up is habit and not hunger you could try wake to sleep there are a few threads on it in the sleep topic. Not sure how old your lo is I think this is only reccomended from 6 months though.
