Had a strange experience with Ikea.

We went to buy our highchair from the store as we wanted the tray and cushion as well and they do not deliver. Checked online in advance to see if tray was in stock as had been previously and it wasn't in stock then but was showing as available now.

So we go through the store making a note of where to collect the tray and highchair (already have cushion). Search high and low for tray but there are none anywhere. Check with three staff members, all agree 56 are listed as in stock but as they are not in the back or on the shelves have no idea where they are.

Reluctantly leave with only chair and cushion as this is our 2nd 20 mile round trip.

Get home to assemble highchair to realise there is no harness. Call the store to complain and am told this only comes with the chair when ordered online

After a bit of 'banter' with the customer services lady she says she will send me a tray and harness.

Well it arrived today and the harness was inside the bag with the seat which was not the case with the original seat. So I am forced to conclude that it may well be the case that the harness only comes with the seat when ordered online which seems very odd to me as you cannot order the cushion or the tray online.

I also received a tray - despite an email a few days ago saying they were out of stock....

Has anyone else had similar difficulties?

Love the highchair by the way, especially now I have the tray and a spare seat

Hmm. Well, we bought the chair online in the UK (and it had a harness) and a lovely Mner dropped off a tray for me because they don't sell the small stuff online (I found the cushion on ebay). But: we bought another (blue!) in Lisbon on holiday to use, and bought it in-store, and the harness was included. (and they were out of stock on trays too... ) Don't know if it's different on the continent, but don't see why they can't supply harnesses as part of the seat online.

Love the Antilop, btw!

Just to let you know I bought mine in store and the harness was included. Very bizarre! Bought at Croydon Ikea btw

Bought mine in-store last week (London). Had harness (good idea to check before you leave though in case of vicious circle shelf pilfering), but trays were out of stock. Warehouse guy said it was irritating that they never seem to match the numbers of seat and tray in deliveries and I should phone ahead for physical stock-check next time.

Thanks everyone.

I went to the Croydon store and had no harness! The plastic bag was properly sealed though so not sure what happened there.

Thinking about it the ones in store were on display with harness too. The customer service woman was definitely arguing with me that only the online ones had the harness. I asked what the point of a highchair without a harness was and it was then that she offered to send one out to me so not sure what that means.

In future I think I would phone rather than check online as it seems less than useless.

I bought mine in-store in Glasgow and it had a harness. Luckily they had trays too!!

Neenztwinz · 21/10/2008 21:26

Bought mine at Warrington and had harness included.

I bought mine in Ikea at Lakeside just at the weekend past and I checked online first. Got to the aisle and completely EMPTY! Panicked for a minute, looked at all surrounding aisle and spotted some more... Took the seat (no harness) and the legs were all 'loose' in one section. Looked at the next aisle and there were seats with nicely packaged harness and legs packed separately in packs of 4 as it should be... Weird or what? Just glad I didn't panic and left! Found the tray in another aisle though, which I thought was a bit rubbish... Had to go and ask customer services, you would think they would be next to each other!

angel1976 · 21/10/2008 22:16

There's cushion for it????!!!!!!! What does it look like and where can I find one?

peachyghoul · 21/10/2008 22:23

I also bought mine at the Croydon store and it had a harness.

My parents have one from the Nottingham store and that also has a harness.
I use one of these but mine wasn't £14.99! It was the cheapes they do an I think was about £7.

Angel the cushion is inflatable , in fact I have one if you want it. Send me a CAT

angel1976 · 21/10/2008 22:27

CAT you peachyghoul! Thanks for the offer...

passedwitsend · 22/10/2008 09:55

The 'cushion' is a kind of inflatable white bumper. I've got one but I've since been told that the highchair cushions from mothercare also fit so I've ordered one of those. It should be delivered today so if it is I'll post back to let you know if it does fit.

peachyghoul · 22/10/2008 19:29

I've emailed you. I forgot to say it is still in it's packet

passedwitsend · 23/10/2008 19:51

Just to let you know, the high chair cushion from mothercare arrived today and it fits beautifully. This is the one I got here

Caz10 · 25/10/2008 14:01

passedwitsend that is lovely, but the same price as the actual chair!!!

We got ours at Ikea Glasgow btw, all bits included and in stock no bother (although only in white)

ummadam · 28/10/2008 13:57

We got one from edmonton IKEA (for us) and one from wembley (for GPs) and both had harnesses in the packaging.

The cushion is next to usefless I find but the mothercare ones fit well and there are always a few on ebay so we use them. We don't use the harness either now as DS (9m) is a little houdini. The front part of baby reins works very well with the little clips that come with the baby reins for attaching to the big old prams- etc.
