Is a packet of sugar a good first food?

Because that's what ds helped himself to in a cafe this morning . He must have picked it up from the table and ate it, paper packet and all.

Only 20 minutes earlier I'd been being all smug and martyrish about waiting until 26 weeks being so important to me, despite ds waking every 90 minutes to feed.

Can I pretend it was blw in action?

Um... Does it help if I point out that BabyDragon's first solids were an inflight magazine (yes, it went all the way through) and a handful of salty beach sand?

He's 24 weeks. And buzzing.

ahh well only 2 weeks out - and as a normal pg is 38-42 weeks there must be some variation

FWIW I started BLW DS3 at about 5 1/2 months as he was getting rather arsey sat watching his older brothers eating and not getting anything, - he's doing just fine now at 16 months

oh, bless him....at least it was edible; my DD got hold of a packet of silica gel and had a suck on that at 5.5 months

My exclusively BF DN was helpfully given a few licks of his older brother's lollipop at 9 weeks old and escaped unscathed from the incident, apart from screaming for more!!

DS at eight months , got the 'camp' coffee essence out, somehow opened it with his teeth and had a goog few glugs!
I was speechless. Just stood staring at him while he smiled up at me, tarlike liquid dribbling down his tiny face....

That's so funny. I wonder if he'll have a sugar slump soon.

DS managed to get a hold of a can of coke when he was about 7 months. His foster family warned us about it when we doing the handover because that first sip gave him a taste for it. He use to crawl like the wind whenever he saw an unattended soft drink can at baby reaching height. He never managed to get a hold of one again when he was in my charge.

Coffee essence?! Magazines?! Silica gel ?? COKE??!!

I don't feel so bad now ...

Feeling relieved DS is normal after all - started taking him shopping in the shopping trolly and had nothing for him to play with so gave him my shopping list ....... apparently it was very tasty.

I was quite prem and apparently,at 8 months,after having purely milk I helped myself to a bit of fish and chips.BLW 36 years ago.

DD ate one of DS's birthday cards - Spiderman, actually. Since then she's gone for a sachet of tomato ketchup, some sugar that was spilt on the table (brown though - I do have some standards)and today I found her with a cat hair in her mouth. Her immune system will be second to none!

Hilarious. DD nearly ate my giant choc snack a jack I was holding today. Think she got a lick of it but managed to stop it getting right in her mouth.

DD had a good mouthful of ds1's fab lolly at a few weeks old. Left hundreds and thousands all over her mouth.

DS2 at 6.5 months has snaffled his way through my payslip, was fed a chocolate biscuit by big brother (aged 2.9) and tried to gum the poor cat's ear.

He'll eat a lot more unpleasant things than sugar!

My exclusively BF DS was given a couple of spoons of champagne at his christening by his great grandmother at 6MO. I think I gave him whiplash dragging him away from her so fast.

He also ate his own body weight in sand first time we went to the beach (made me realise that sterlising the entire contents of the house twice a day was a bit unecessary)

DS(9.5mo) stole my chocolate chip digestive a couple of weeks ago.
He also had a liking for shopping receipts when I first him started on solids!
