Salt

My dd is 7 months, and I've discovered that she likes pesto. Trouble is that jars of pesto seem to have a lot of salt in them. What do you all do about this? Do you make your own? (if so, any good and easy recipes?!) Also, what about houmous? Shop bought stuff also seems to have a lot of salt.

Thanks!

i think it should be ok - I guess when they're so young they don't eat so much....and it is ok to give weetabix, bread etc which all have salt. Maybe you vould look at the labels and try to figure out which one is lowest in salt?

I think hommous is quite easy to make so if you're worried about salt, you could buy some pesto and then make some hommous yourself?

I tried some pasta pesto for ds2 (9 months)today ...poor thing couldn't manage to hold the pasta (penne)...think will try some of the butterfly shapes....
