Please could you lovely ladies tell me how much milk your 13 month old (or thereabouts) drank? HV Tells me that DS should still be having 24 ounces a day. DS has been FF from 11 mths and I really struggle to get him to have 10 ounces!. I offer it to him twice per feed (3 times a day) and am wondering whether I am not making enough effort and need to offer him smaller amounts more often during the day?

i know the guidelines are a pint a day or thereabouts, but i've yet to meet anyone whose child has that much at that age. i don't know what other countries' governments say but i always suspect a bit of a dairy farmer conspiracy in the UK!

Children do need calcium for healthy growth but you can get this from other sources as well, including green leafy veg. Does he eat cheese/yogurt? You can always try porridge made with milk for breakfast as well, cheese sauce, custard, rice pudding, pancakes, etc etc. Don't forget that formula is very filling compared to cows milk and if he is taking a lot of solid food I'm not surprised he doesn't want much formula as well!
