Trip Trap and BLW. Is it hell?

I'm so so sick of the (attractive, fancy, PFB) highchair we have and have decided to sell the damn thing.

We have a smallish open plan living room so the highchair is permanently in the way in view. I really want to avoid having to look at the Antilop day and night, so I was thinking of getting the Trip Trap.

DD is nearly 10 months and BLW, is that really going to work with the Trip Trap not having a tray? Can you get DC close enough to the table that everything doesn't fall between the table and the chair? Also, what do DC eat from when using the TT? Putting DD's food directly onto the table cloth doesn't really seem like a good idea Have no idea from what age the TT is practical.

The Antilop I have at MILs is great (fantastic in fact, but unbelievably ugly) but is too low for the tray to sit over the table like the tray of my current hated highchair does. This means it would take up an enormous amount of room, which I am also keen to avoid.

So, any advice?

Yes but I just looked on the flying plates as part and parcel of the mess that goes with the baby territory
I found that starting off with the food in a bowl or plate gets the baby used to the fact that we eat from them, and doesn't turn it into a novelty later on to be played with and thrown about.

Tripp trapps make fab mumsnetting chairs too

We have my grans 100 year old wooden kitchen table, probably why I am not bothered about mess and stains...

I have a Tripp Trapp-alike for DS3. It works well for BLW(we are doing a combination of purees and BLW) You do get food EVERYWHERE but you would anyway at the finger food stage. I have had to lower the seat already so it fits properly under our table (ours is the Tchibo one) and i have a;ready had to wash the covers to --chip off- clean off the rusks and we have only had it about 2 months!

I just put the food directly on the table. Its cleaned with anti bac several times a day anyway and we will be avoiding plates and bowls until he has cleared the throwing things stage
