Did I read something here where someone suggested coating slippery fruit bits - nectarine, mango, juicy pear etc - with something ground-up, like ground cereal grains, so's the baby can get a good grip on the pieces? Sorry, can't find the post! What would you use?

I don't know about coating things, but blotting them with a bit of kitchen roll worked quite well for us.

Pear - nibble peel off round the top inch or so, and hand over - retrieve when it is gummed to that level and repeat. Makes it easy to hold.

Nectarine - I just gave a big flat slice so there was plenty of skin to hold onto.

Mango - not until he could grab it off me as I make enough mess with it without his help.
