going well but little man gets very cross that he can't get the food in quick enough.

I spoon fed him some weetabix for breakfast and he was soo happy.

So should i just persevere with BLW or do a mixture?

He's just over 6 months.

I did a mixture. I don't think there's any "law" that you have to do one OR the other, do what works for you.

We do a mixture too. Sometimes she wants spoon feeding other times she gets cross with us for even trying. Think it depends on how tired or hungry she is.

Up to you really. We do a mix of finger foods and mash. (more finger foods now dd is 10 months old)

When we first started weaning if she was tired or really hungry we would offer more spoon feeding.

Imo the important thing is that she enjoys her food and eats a range of stuff.

If you want to do pure BLW then give him things that will fill him up more quickly if he is really starving. For example it takes dd ages to eat a bread stick and they are not really filling. But your ds could probably stuff down some mini weetabix all by himself. Soak them in milk so they are still intact but a bit soggy iykwim. Or banana is quite easy for them to self feed and get into their tummy quickly!

Agree it doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Use a spoon sometimes if it's more appropriate.

Thanks!

Thats what i was thinking. This is my second and i seem to have forgotten everything about weaning and it was only 3 years ago.

we do a mixture too - sometimes DD likes to be fed, other times she likes to feed herself. so i do finger foods at every meal. works well
