Started weaning and now he's refusing milk

Help!

Ds never seemed to be particularly fond of milk, but now I've begun to wean he is less and less interested in it. I can see I'm going to have to start adding it into food instead which limits the menu a bit!

Has anyone else encountered this? If so I would greatly appreciate your first hand experiences!

My youngest did this I started weaning at 6 months at 11 months she gave up bf altogether - she dropped roughly a complete feed per month (was only on 5 feeds at 6 months)

do you do the solids at a different time to milk feeds? I found ds kept his milk intake up better when I offered milk first and gave solids about an hour or so later.

I too offer milk first then wait about half an hour before offering food, am interested in this thread as ds has also never been a big milk drinker and he too seems to be taking less all the time...

yep offer milk first then food.

Am also having this problem.I started weaning at 5 months (she's 6mth on sat),even though I always offer milk first she refuses to drink more than 3-4 oz at the most and then will eat tons of solids. Its also started to affect her sleep as she refuses 10:30 feed (too full) but is waking anywhere between 3and 6 for just a couple of Oz's (I think that shes thirsty but she refuses water from both bottle and cup!.

have you tried cutting back on the solids? I might try it but when he's sat with his mouth open it seems mean!

Am going to try to cut back on the solids but find it hard to guage how much she has had and agree its hard as she seems so keen. I wonder if she's going off the bottle as she likes the way that you eat solids - i.e mouthful by mouthful. I've tried making the holes bigger on the bottles (they are the ones that are like breastfeeding - breastflow - as I breastfed up to 5 months) and I wondered if she is frustrated with the time it now takes to feed?

My DS did the same, but went back onto milk after a week or so. Also took him ages to get the water thing- he's 9mo now and just starting to drink properly from a cup.

My DS is 24 weeks and been on solids since 20 weeks as we where having problems with him taking his milk. Its got worse since having solids.

I have changed the formula and that has helped quite abit, but spoke to my HV yesterday and she has said once he is on 3 meals a day, 20oz of milk is fine. Somedays they may not even have that much. She said as long as he will take a full bottle in the morning and before bed, then just get what he wants in during the day!!

My DS still refused water, and juice!

milk is more important than solids though. my hv told me 32 oz of milk was preferable up to a year old. ds had 1 9oz bottle when he got up, 1 7 oz bottle before his morning nap, 1 7oz bottle after his afternoon nap and 1 9oz bottle before bed until that age. now he has 1 8oz bottle when he gets up, 1 8oz bottle before his nap and 1 8oz bottle before he goes to bed.
