I have started weaning my ds not saying age as starts a riot on here but health visitor canme in and gave me the weaning lecture/talk

I am amazed this is what she says

the guidlines now say start babys on puried fruit and vegtables not rice or porrage why i asked she says because it fills babys up to fast and they put on more weight and this in ;later life leads to children over weight !! i was utterly shocked

i would think the baby rice was easiest to start babys on then work the way up to introducing them to different foods ie fruit and veg

i have started on her advice with fruit ds loves it

has anyone else been told this or is my hv talking nonsense ?/

oh nooooo I gave you the wrong address

tis [email protected]

god, I can't even spell my own user name - can you try again please?

I always started on veg first with mine, no baby rice. Hv told me to do veg first and fruit later to avoid them being too fussy and only wanting sweet stuff

Ah, now, see I thought you were being uber cunning about posting your email address, and that I'd just not realised. Have sent again.

oh for heaven's sake, I think some HVs just make it up as they go along.

FWIW we started ds on a mix of pureed fruit or pureed veg - something like banana, or apple, or sweet potato - and he still loves his fruit. Would happily live on nothing else. This is a good thing. And he refused sweets when offered them until he was over three.

can i just ask a quick question.... to whoever said that the baby should still have a full milk feed after the meal, should they?!

Daniel is almost 7mnths, has a bottle at 6am, breakfast at 8am, bottle at 10am (if he wants it, quite often doesnt) lunch at 12ish, bottle at 2.30, tea at 5.30pm and bedtime milk at 6.30pm

hope im doing it right!
