How often should meals include baby rice when first weaning?

Am trying a mix of a few solid bits and purees and am not sure whether you can rely too much on baby rice for bulking up food...? eg will it cause constipation?

You don't have to use baby rice at all -- vile stuff imo!

I found it good for making runny purees a bit thicker so you could get it onto a spoon without losing it. I never found baby rice constipating for my lo's. I started with baby rice, then mixed fruit/veg puree with it and then gave straight veg/fruit puree. I also gave finger foods alongside puree from 6 months and by 8/9 months ds had mainly finger foods and we finished with puree/baby rice, etc

never used baby rice, used baby porridge for first day or two then got straight on to pureed indvdual veg's: puree, batch freeze and you're ff (if you batch freeze use decent ice cube trays, not cheapo ones as cheapo ones don't flex when you twist them to pop a cube out and they shatter everywhere!)
