Need some advice! I’m on day three of weaning my daughter, I was told veggies to start on, we did avocado on day 1 & carrot on day 2. It was a huge no no. I completely get it’s all new for her, texture & taste wise. I’m doing purée alongside finger food of the same food for her to experiment. I’m going to do pear today. I’m really unsure what to keep doing as I’ve been told avoid sweet stuff as babies will naturally like it as the have a sweet tooth. Recipes, experiences would be super appreciated!! I’m going to keep going but I’m definitely feeling they isn’t much out there on the NHS to advise other than veggies, veggies, veggies. I’m staying away from packets/jars at the moment too.

We did veggies for the first few weeks even if none went down. But honestly just do whatever works, and don't expect any to be eaten at this stage. Have realistic expectations, mine only really started eating meals at about 14 months.

I did veggies for a few weeks with my daughter and it is just a slow process! I then used lots of recipes from the “what mummy makes” book and loved that, I used to just eat the same to save making two meals. She’s nearly 2 now and eats absolutely anything so hasn’t done any harm! Will be doing the same with my son next month when he is ready to start :)

I really like 'How to Ween Your Baby's by Charlotte Stirling Reed. It had a plan to follow for the first month which focussed on veg and building up textures with a mix of purée and finger foods. I also used recipes from Wean I'm 15 and What Mummy Makes once I'd finished the plan.

This guide from the Caroline Walker Trust has some good suggestions of first foods to try.

Then I’d maybe look at look at the Babyled Weaning Cookbook for recipes as then you’ll be cooking food you can all enjoy which halves the effort of feeding your LO if you’re not preparing food separately for them Smile
