After watching doc on microplastics does anyone know of safest ice cube tray options?

Hi after watching the documentary on Netflix about microplastics I am looking for any suggestions on the safest / least likely to leach microplastics ice cube trays or small pots, for freezing homemade baby food in? I'm guessing BPA free but are there other options or is plastic unavoidable here?

DD is 5 months and planning for weaning

These seem to advertise themselves as suitable: https://www.boots.com/vital-baby-nourish-store-and-wean-pots-60ml-6pk-natural-10357916

Otherwise even the glass/pyrex ones seem to often have plastic lids: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CRBG9HSP/

Oh thank you so much! These do look suitable.

We saved up old jam jars, but we didn't do purees. Life is massively easier if you just give them whatever you're eating, although it does mean we all eat organic veg and brown pasta now

Have you looked into baby led weaning? Our babies ate what we ate - we never made separate food.

Don't make life hard for yourself, if you're weaning around 6 months you can skip purees and just give finger foods and mash what you're having.

What about silicone?

Peonies12 · 25/03/2026 14:54

I'd just mash what you're having, or serve large pieces as that's actually safest and best to learn to eat. Get the Solid Starts app. I realised very early on that it was a waste of my life to make baby specific food, when it all went on the floor.

We used these

Popped out the cube and heated it in a non plastic dish. We did end up buying about 4 trays
