10 month old refusing lumpy food and finger food

Needing some urgent help!

My little girl will be 10 months old tomorrow. At the moment she refuses ANY food with texture. She refuses to even open her mouth for it at times and then does that with every meal and would rather go hungry than eat lumps. If I then offer pureed food as an alternative she accepts it - and has cottoned on - she knows if she refuses lumps she then gets a puree. I would not worry so much if she would only take to finger food. Attempts to give her baby rusk, bread or something from our plate fail. When put in her hand she throws it about and IF she succeeds in getting a few crumbs of bread or biscuit in her mouth then she spits it out. She does not really show an interest in what we eat..she looks for a bit, then gets bored..try to give her something and she will not have it. To make it worse I am getting pressure from the doctor..who tells me she needs to chew to help with speech development..but she just wont have it. She also does not say dada or baba (babble) which apparently all babies should do at her age. She just kind of goes mmmmmmm the whole day with no variation in sound.

She will be going to the doctors in 10 days for her next major checkup - we will raise the issue then, incase there is a medical reason involved.

Has anyone else experienced a baby refusing lumps and finger food...even at 10 months?

oh I forgot to say - she puts everything else in her mouth...toys etc.. but she knows somehow that when I give her bread or baby biscuits that it is food...and just hates it. Just tried feeding her midday meal ...no joy..did not even open her mouth. I even let her play with the food aswell to see if it helps..but noo. The next meal will be the same in the afternoon...will not open her mouth. When she knows I have cleared away the bowl and then return with another she opens her mouth readily as she knows it is puree. I spoke to a colleague the other day who said she should be able to manage lumps and to ditch the purees. I just worry that she now has some eating disorder as she does it now with every meal - head down, shaking head and playing with bib. I tried two days of just offering lumpy food..on both days all she had was her morning bottle and evening porridge. She never seemed bothered about no food during the day..she is not ill in the sense of a virus..as the doctor checked that out a few days ago. It is just each mealtime is a battle ground and I think I have a major problem on my hands..

We fly out on holiday in 2 days - and doctor appointment is on 24th june..maybe she needs to get used to the fact that I am not offering puree and learn that after 5 days or so she is actually hungry and eat...who knows..hopefully..
