What's the best type of pasta to give a BLW 7 month old? FUsilli? Also, should I give it with no 'sauce' on at all? Seems to me that would be a bit bleurgh! What do you other lovely mums do with your pasta for 7 month old BLW?

Fusilli seems to have better grip. Definitely give with a sauce, try pesto and natural yoghurt, or just pesto, cheese sauce, tomato sauce. Add veg, grated is good at this age, grated courgette, carrot, chopped frozen spinach.

Good luck!

Although avoid pesto if there's a history of allergies in the family. Mascarpone cheese is a good, instant sauce. I stir spinach into it... [bleurgh] I remember DD (now 5yo) eating conchiglie (the shells) which I'd stuffed with sauce - she was a fair bit older then and they're probably too big for a baby to eat, but they do make little shells so I might try those next.

is pesto not too salty for bubs?

and should the grated courgette be raw? Can I givge raw grated carrot too? I'm guessing the spinach would have to be cooked!

i used to give ds penne with butter (unsalted) on it and he LOVED it. still does, actually! green pesto always got spat back in my face though

he has just learned how to blow through the penne so it shoots out of his mouth though. Occupational hazard, i'm afraid. The spirals work well too though!

If you grate the carrot and courgette into the sauce you are heating up it should be fine. I've got into the habit of grating veg into everything (works well for fussy DH too!). You could always cook it in a bit of butter first. If you use the frozen spinach (it's great because its already finely chopped) it will obviously have to defrost. You could whack it in the microwave briefly or again just chuck it in the sauce and heat until it melts.

Just reread your post, you do grate it raw though.

You could stir soft cheese through the sauce too.

i used to just give it however we were having it but with a lot less sauce, so less mess. and try keeping the sauce, whether veg or mince, chunkier so easier to pick up.

Nope, tbh I never even peel carrots! Just make sure they are washed.
