DS is 6 months next week so am going to start giving him food to play with. Have a few questions

  1. As we have waited til 6 months do we still need to introduce foods gradually or can I just chuck all sorts at him from day 1?
  1. Is there anything we should still avoid (other than honey)?
  1. Should I start to offer him water now too or wait until he is actually eating stuff?(excl bf)
  1. Can someone else start to deal with the nappies now please?!

You wouldn't think it was only 18 months since I'd done this with dd would you?!

  1. yes, but not so gradually as at 4 or 5 months, new food every 2 days rather than every 3-4 days IMHO
  1. as far as I know you should still avoid nuts, eggs, shellfish, possibly strawberries (depends on who you ask), unpasteurised/blue cheeses, cured meats, and uhhhhhhhhhh can't think of any others right now.
  1. I offered water at lunch once dd was eating some, kind of fun and gets them used to a cup rather than boob.
  1. you're on your own!!! I do miss those bf nappies (my dd is 8.5 months and her nappies are yuck now)

Thanks, it's amazing how i've only retained the info that's still relevant-all the rest has gone straight back out again!
