2nd day in on weaning DD2 and today we tried banana. She loved it, got sticky banana bits everywhere and now everything she was wearing is brown.

Can someone remind me how to get banana out of clothes??

it basically doesn't come out of clothes, unless you either soak them right away, or bleach them
oh, I remember the days!

Flier · 04/06/2008 13:20

or use a decent bib/coverall, which is what I did with dc2 after ruining loads of dc1s' clothes

PuppyMonkey · 04/06/2008 13:21

OOh yes, it all goes black - can't get it out ever!

MrsBadger · 04/06/2008 13:22

Vanish, wash, then leave in sun

works surprisingly well

They should get HVs to warn EVERY mother at weaning time.

Banana never comes out

It would be more useful than a lot of the advice they give

talilac · 04/06/2008 13:31

Dammit thats what I thought. Why oh why didn't I remember that sooner? I now vividly recollect destroying a gorgeous coat of DD1s by giving her a banana in her buggy.

Oh well, at least I've remembered before cherries, oranges and tomato soup.. Anything I've forgotten on the death to clothes list??

I never have a problem with it if I rinse it off then put in the washing machine immediately (hand-washing doesn't seem to do it). If it's left more than an hour or so is when there's trouble.

Tomato is my bete-noire...

MrsBadger · 04/06/2008 13:34

tomato and carrot both come out in the sun - really
Leave on a s-facing windowsill in the morning and in 12h (if sunny) or 36h (if not) the stain will be GONE.
