Change in pooing habits following starting weaning - is it normal?

Since starting weaning 3 weeks ago DD2 (just over 28 weeks) has started pooing at least 3 times a day, not runny as if her tummy is upset but 3 definite poos each day, some days more.

I can't remember DD1 doing this as it's a few years ago. She's not distressed when she goes but I just feel it's an awful lot. Maybe not, I did a search but couldn't come up with anything. She's been formula fed since 5 weeks and on aptimil which tends to make poo a bit like bf babies but she still only went once a day on milk alone, now we have 3 little solid numbers every day, apologies if you're at your lunch

Have also posted in Behaviour/Dev but realised this might be better here, any thoughts appreciated. TIA

My son is exactly the same, also on apatamil. It's a bit of a shock for me as was used to one poo a day, now have 3 or more to contend with!!

Poor wee souls, she's been doing them in her sleep at night some nights & haven't noticed till I get her up in the morning. Little poo imprints on her wee bot. Looks sore but she doesn't seem bothered.

Had forgotten carrot makes them luminous orange too, oh the joys of small babies.

DS has also started pooing more regularly since weaning and he is on aptamil. Have you done sweet potato yet - had forgotten in the 2 yrs since weaning DD that it comes out looking pretty much as it went in!

I'm thinking once DS gets onto meat in a few weeks that things may slow down ... after all I think if I existed on milk and pureed veggies I'd be spending a lot of time in the bathroom!

DS went from once every 4 days - or longer!! (when only breast-fed) to around 3 a day - it was a shocker to suddenly have to start dealing with dirty nappies on a regular basis.

They always time it just after you've changed them, or just as you're about to go out the front door when you're already 10 minutes late don't they!

The real nuisance is the pooing in the night - having a dirty nappy wakes DS up and he then thinks 'hmm, now I'm awake, I'm thinking I'm quite hungry' and so we seem to be back to more regular night feeds just as I was hoping he'd be going longer.

My LO must just be a grubber, it's lovely to go into her room and she just gives me a big gumsy morning smile seemingly unperturbed by the big sh*t in her nappy.
