I have just started weaning my daughter (6mths) and had been giving her pureed vegetables (sweet potato, carrot. squash etc) and also apple and pear. However, I went to her clinic today for weigh in and HV informed me not to give fruit as she may later refuse to eat savoury if she gets a taste of sweeter fruit.

Is this anyone elses experience? Should i stop giving her fruit for now and introduce it later?

What a lot of bollocks! If you ONLY give fruit, yes your DD may develop a liking for sweet things but she will anyway in time and carrots etc are quite sweet anyway.

Oh and you can skip the puree bit if you want. We went with BLW and were on spag bol on day 2.

That's total crap. Breastmilk is sweet anyway.

no, what you are doing is fine
I used to give veg puree for lunch and fruit puree for tea
Have you got a good weaning guide? Lorraine Kelly does a good down to earth one
Go to the library and see what things the books there suggest
And above all don't worry too much
By the time lo is 2 they'll be loving choccie buttons

Variety is key, your HV is talking bollox. If you where only giving fruit she may develop a preference for sweet tastes, but giving a variety of food including fruit and veg is a good thing.

fruit is fine. i used to mix it with yoghurt. another nice one is sweet potato and apple together.

BLW is fab.
