Sorry for the long post but I have a couple of questions since baby turned 1
He was always FF, and we pretty much went cold turkey and straight to whole milk, except he does still have a bottle of formula before bed.
How do I know if he's eating enough? He gets quite upset sometimes in his highchair and I've no idea if it's because he's full, doesn't like it or just wishes he could have formula instead
Also, since turning 1 he stopped feeding himself. He never let me feed him before, spoon or finger food he would always do it himself, but now it's like he's lost the ability to do so.
I've already had my 1 year health visitor appointment before the change so any advice is appreciated!

Usually if they’ve eaten then get upset you can assume that they’ve had enough. Sometimes they will eat more some days than others and they’re also great at regulating how much they eat at this age.

If you’re worried though do you want to give an outline of what he eats in a day and how much milk and formula he’s having? SmileHe

Just wanted to add that of you’re struggling to work out what they want have you thought of introducing some Makaton signs when you talk to him like eat, more and finished?

At one though I wouldn’t be offering an alternative if he hadn’t eaten a meal.

It's a good idea as BunnyRuddington suggests to make a note of what he's eating each day for a few days and have a look back to see if you think it's enough. Also maybe note down when he's being grumpy or upset at meal times. Maybe it's certain food making him like that
