I don't know if this is over reacting or not, i found one of those dairylea dipper things from last week in a bag, it had been opened and left in the porch for over a week. I took it out to throw it away but got distracted and i went downstairs just now to find that DH has given it to DS - what should i do? Would the cheese have gone off by now?

He'll vomit it back if it's absolutely gone off. If not he'll be fine (with a touch of upset tummy perhaps).

Remember stomach acid kills loads of germs.

if it has it will just bounce and come straight back up or go right through - not pleasant but comes out one way or the other

don't panic

How old is he? If he is a healthy little boy he should be fine. Those things are processed and last for ages. Don't panic!

Thanks for responding, i'm so worried he will end up getting listeria or something really nasty. Am at DH today - he also burnt poor DS's mouth by giving him food that was too hot without testing it first.

If it makes you feel better, I just posted on another thread that ds1 when he was 13 months ate a giant African Land Snail with no after effects! Good luck.

windygalestoday · 29/05/2008 18:43

these things are full of preservatives so probably he will be fine ....... he will eat lots of other stuff he shouldnt before hes grown up so far from 3 children i can recall a slug being eaten ,cat food and rennies

no side effects yet - hopefully he has escaped anything - now makes me wonder what preservatives must be in that cheese for it not to go off after a week open left out in this weather - has been quite hot here!!
