How much milk while weaning?

My baby is 7 and a half months and we started weaning at 6 months. She’s been on one meal a day which is tea time. The next meal I’m planning on adding in is breakfast then lunch once she’s fine with 2 meals a day.

i just wanted some advice on how much milk she should need? I’ve spoken to the health visitor and she said based on her weight she should be getting 40oz in 24 hours and with teething and eating solids she’s just not interested in taking all that milk plus food. I’m starting to stress about her not getting enough formula during the day (bottle fed) and she’s a big baby she was 10lb 4oz at birth so she’s always needed more than the average but 4 x 9oz bottles plus 2 meals is just not happening she won’t take it all and from what my health visitor has said she’s not getting enough milk and I’m wondering what other mums give their babies and if I’m just stressing over nothing.

she’s a good weight still and she’s happy in herself im just curious on others opinions!

Just remember for breastfed babies, we hadn't a clue how many oz our babies were having, just feed when she's hungry. They'll be times when she'll want more milk and time she wants more food. Don't stress, you're doing great with a healthy baby that's sounds like she interested in food.

Agree I think your HV is mixed up! About 600ml is the norm at that age, so literally half of what your baby is having. 40oz is crazy.

That’s what I was thinking, I’m a first time mum so I just thought ‘who am I to be questioning a professional’ but it just seemed like so much to fit in during the day! Thanks for the responses!

A minimum of 20oz is recommended from 6 months when youre introducing solids. If your baby doesn't want to drink 40 oz that's fine as long as they are having the minimum amount.

The formula by weight equation is only until they reach 6 months. There is no way she should be having 40 Floz a day along with solids.

The NHS current advice is to introduce the third meal between 8 and 9 months so I’d go for introducing breakfast now Smile
