Hi

My DD has generally been good about her food - loves dry finger foods but not fruit finger foods, enjoys her lumpyish purees on most days but within the last week has become very fussy about her food.

She has totally gone off cereal, reduced her intake of puree type spoon foods. I have tried more finger foods, different dishes in addition to her favourites but all to little avail.

She does have her top 2 teeth coming through and looks like 2 either side are moving down and also has a very runny nose. Do you think this sudden change in volume and acceptance of food is due to teething, her aserting her independence or something else?

Would not usually worry but we have just been ref to pediatrician as she is not gaining weight quickly enough and head on smallest centile.

Any ideas welcome.

Pip

My ds is 11.5 mths also and going through the same thing.

Will eat toast, crumpets, rice cakes, but anything like banana, or pasta that is wet, he picks up and throws !!

I tend to not fret anymore. The more you fret and force them to eat things, you run the risk of creating food phobias.

The last week or so, Ive began to put lots of different things in a bowl chopped into bits eg peas, carrots, brocs, pots, chicken and let ds have a play. I tend to get half down him.

Eating a meal in front of them helps also, as I found out on Sunday when ds ate several bits of cauliflower and roast pots off my plate...........amazing !!

Yup - the wet and slimy things go over the side of the highchair immediately!!

Must be a phase thing! Have to say yesterday loved all food but fussy at breakfast again - even toast did not do it today!
