I have recently started weaning my 6 month old. I have introduced food at her 11 am feed (giving her half bottle, then food and then rest of her bottle - which she finishes (8oz)).

I am now confused about introiducing more food as she takes 8oz's in morning, at 3pm and is breats fed before bed and I don't know when to introduce more food and whether I need to drop feeds? I am a bit confused cos all the books say different things.

Sorry a bit confusing - could anyone advise?

I never read any books - just went with the flow. Just see what works for her.

i wouldnt worry too much about it atm, food at this age is really just experimenting with different tastes, textures, flavours etc. Maybe feed her dinner at about 5ish?
Take your cues from her, she may start to drop a daytime bottle feed soon.

Once my DD was eating breakfast I introduced dinner at half 5, once she was happy with I started giving her lunch.

Now she's just turned 7 months, has a big breakfast, smallish lunch and a dinner and pudding.

I didn't reduce her milk, she did it herself. I give her 8oz at night and 8oz in the morning, and I offer her two 6oz bottles in the day. But i'm gonna replace one of them with water soon.

My 6 month old ds has:
6am (ouch- attempting to move this a bit...) - milk feed
9.30ish post-nap milk feed
11am food - at the moment banana is the main event for him, we've had refusals for sweet potato and parsnip - followed by milk feed
3pm - milk feed
5pm - more food, preferably something other than banana but we'll see how it goes (he'll eat a whole mashed banana but less of other things eg pear)
6pmish - post bath milk feed
10.30ish - dream feed

I breastfeed apart from the 10.30pm which is formula so I don't really know how much he takes. I introduced the 5pm feed about a week after he started eating. My next step I guess is breakfast, not sure when that will be - probably about 8ish I think. I'm not planning to drop any feeds yet, I'll see if he starts knocking them back himself. Some friends with babies the same age have said theirs don't really take milk at the same time as food now, but it was the babies' decision rather than theirs.
HTH - I've found the books are a pain in the arse because they all describe weaning from 4 months and say things like 'once solid food is really established, around 6 months'... which is no good to us!

Thanks it's really helpful to see what another person is doing. I will continue as I think best and trust my instinct rather than the books.
