6mth DS having long hard poos - how can I help him?

Since started weaning 6mth DS couple of weeks ago, his poos have got long and hard - he's crying while he goes and it's heartbreaking watching him stuggle to get it out. What can I give him to help soften it all up again?

My DS had this problem - it is horrible!

I tried lots of cooled boiled water and also I pureed up some dried apricots for him to eat.

Stefka has just suggested both the things I was going to say! By 6 months he might enjoy feeding himself the apricots . Possibly ease up on the solids in general for a day or two until he gets going again. Milk is still all he needs for nourishment so you'll do no harm by ensuring his main intake is fluid just now

Hi - you could also cut back a bit on food and offer more milk? That's what I did anyhow as we had the same problem. I also did more fruit and veg and offerred water with every meal.
