I know the title sounds facetious, but it's a serious question. DD is 4.5 months so I'm just starting to read up on things so that I'm ready for kick off at 6 months. Making purees from single vegetables and fruit I can just about manage but when it starts getting more complex then I might be challenged! I've bought one of Annabel Karmel's books but haven't looked through it yet. Is it all pretty simple or should I speedily find a cookery class?!

What about babyled weaning? Then she can eat from your plate and be completely used to your cooking from early on. [facetious]

oh I was a dreadful cook before I had kids. Just dreadful. Then the little poppets turned out to have allergies and not only did I have to learn how to cook, I had to learn how to read labels properly and be inventive.

Buy some books - I found Prue Leith's Cookery Bible INVALUABLE (or something like that...any cookery bible, good housekeeping or something). I found the Annabel Karmel stuff seemed to have lots of ingredients when you didn't necessarily need them.

If you see it as a task and something you need to be able to do, you'll find you just get on with it. I'm not bad now (if I don't say so myself ).

When you get to the baking cakes stage (when your little one gets near to 1), post again because I have MASTERED cakes and have a fool proof 'bung everything in a bowl' recipe that even the worst cook can't screw up!

LOL fox, I'll be onto you in December!

Do babies have asbestos stomachs then, Mars? Poor thing, she's in for a life of culinary disasters...

Off to read up on BLW...
