Baby Led Weaning - Anyone tried raw veggie purees?

I am doing BLW with my 7m baby - has anyone prepared raw vegetable purees? Was it hard to blend raw veggies?

Anyone got good raw green veggie puree combinations ?

You can't make a puree from raw vegetables.. they need to be cooked

StMarie4me · 20/05/2025 21:07

Very hard for little tummies to digest imo. Softly cooked, until their digestive system has got used to it.

TumbledTussocks · 21/05/2025 12:19

How are you BLW with puree? That’s the opposite

Lovenpic · 21/05/2025 12:34

Grated is good - it’s an interesting texture for them to explore, and they can pick it up easily. Carrots and courgettes work well.

FrogetAboutIt · 21/05/2025 12:37

If you're doing BLW, you don't need to bother with purees at all.

redgingerbread · 21/05/2025 12:39

BLW means giving your baby actual food, not purées.

Ddakji · 21/05/2025 12:40

Just feed your baby in the way that works best for the both of you.

I hated BLW. 6 weeks of misery.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 21/05/2025 12:41

I did BLW with all 3 of mine.

the point is you don’t puree anything!

Amylearningaboutbaby · 08/07/2025 22:48

I want to offer raw foods where possible, to expose my baby to the living enzymes . Cooking foods kills those enzymes. I do understand that purees are not BLW, however often raw veggies are still choking hazards at 8/9mo.

so if you have any other raw ideas, I am all ears! <3

Like those Americans did? The ones that got life when their baby died?

minipie · 08/07/2025 23:10

Raw fruit will be a better bet. Plenty of enzymes there and softer so can be gummed by babies.

You know the enzymes will be digested though right? And our bodies make their own enzymes?

Amylearningaboutbaby · 08/07/2025 23:25

Yes doing lots of fruit already - very easy and she loves it!

sr_nutrition on instagram is the expert on BLW she’s often seen on the telly giving advice and helped both Joe Wicks and Stacey Solomon with their babies. Her books are the best!

Just steam the veg op and give as finger food. Have you got the blw book?

dairydebris · 09/07/2025 08:44

Gazpacho?
Tomato cucumber peppers etc?
Purees can be BLW if they feed it to themselves of their own choice...

Any salsa?

Mine loved any frozen veg at this age too. Green beans, peas, sweetcorn; julienned carrots etc

Amylearningaboutbaby · 09/07/2025 10:50

Which book would you recommend ?
