Ideas for meals for 17mth old ???

Hi

DS is 17 months old and overall is a good eater. TBH tho, I feel that after a really good start I am falling into the fishfingers, nuggets, etc etc, type of meals. I dont mind these per se, as sometimes you do need a quick fix dinner, and I am of the view that all things in moderation are OK, but I also want to feed my son healthy nutritious meals the majority of the time, trouble is, I am at a loss for ideas.....

Needs to be simple, as not a brilliant cook, and ideally things that DH and I can also eat, or use same ingredients to make our meals.

Breakfasts not a problem, ideas for lunches and dinners would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies - save my son from Capt Birdseye (not trying to guilt trip you into replying

my dts are 13 mths and eat the same as us:

chilli, spag bol, carbonara, roast, anything

for lunch they eat the same as us aswell:

sandwiches, omelettes, jacket potatoes, crackers - whatever is going

I just chuck it in a bowl and give them a spoon (which they hold in one hand then use their fingers on the other hand to eat with)

I have a shower curtain under their highchairs to save the carpet - currently only spoon feed them yoghurts & custard

My DS is 18 months and his 'staples' are:

Various pasta dishes - tuna and tomato pasta, spag bol, lasagne, various veg/meat combos with a white sauce.
Risottos
Cous cous with various things - make up with low salt veg stock (can get cubes) and add cooked veg and ham.
Fish cakes and veg
Bangers and mash
Roast dinners
Omelettes
Jacket spuds with cheese and beans or tuna and Sweetcorn.
Stews and casseroles

The only things we have that he doesn't have, are spicy fajitas and curries - he's had a go at a mild curry, but we prefer it a bit hotter.

Apologies for hijack-

Jojay, what make are your low-salt stock cubes? Do you get them in the supermarket?

Thanks

kallo organic do low salt stock cubes - I have seen them in various supermarkets - they are in a pale blue box next to the other stock cubes (or sometimes in the organic section)

PinkPussyCat - They're the Kallo ones - I get them from our local Budgens
