8 months - how many meals a day?

My baby is 8.5 months. He has taken to weaning well, he's on 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner) which he eats, consistently. Do I introduce a 3rd? How do I know he's "ready"?

I know that if I introduce breakfast, he'll drop some of his morning milk (he's dropped his afternoon milk) and I'm confused on whether that's ok since all the websites say milk should be his main nutrition?

Baby is otherwise exclusively breastfed so not sure how much milk he's getting in actual ml/oz.

Try offering him some after a good feed in the middle of the day.
My first absolutely loved sold food from the get go and was definitely on 3 meals a day at 8 months, something like a 1 egg omlette and some beans for lunch. Not sure what the guidance on salt intake is now, but she would easily go over if I didn't watch out. She carried in breastfeeding till she was a toddler (well 4 actually, I just don't want to put you off! ) and had needed a bottle of formula everyday which she decided to ditch at 8 months.

Both my babies were on 3 meals by around 9 months, then 3 meals and 2 snacks by 12 months

OK I will offer breakfast after his morning milk as well. He normally breastfeeds twice before his morning nap so this will replace one of the morning feeds. Just so confusing to constantly be told that milk is all they need before 1, because he genuinely seems quite hungry.

@TheLurpackYears he already gets lunch and dinner. Breastfeeding long term doesn't put me off at all! I may be a weirdo but it's so easy 😂first 3 months I'd have happily given formula but once that absolute sheer hell of the newborn stage is over, no way am I making bottles. Also, the cuddles 😍
