Anybody else little one struggle with tummy pain when weaning? DS is 6 months and just started trying little bits, porridge mixed with his milk, some small fingers foods like toast with hummus etc he’s really enjoying the food in the moment but it’s giving him an awful belly ache, he just cries and cries and gripes in pain, sorry for tmi too but he’s bowel movements are awful too he really struggles to get them out but when they come they’re dark green and like water, he’s always been a bit windy and griped a bit after bottle but just put that down to being a baby! Please can anyone advise is this normal and will it pass?

I read vegetable purees are much easier on the stomach than cereal, toast, rice etc. Try those first. That's how we started. After about 2-3 weeks I started introducing other things and mixing things up a bit.

How many times a day are you offering food @raspberryjoe?

raspberryjoe · 13/05/2025 08:58

We started on once a day for a few days, just porridge he got on great and loved having breakfast with us, it wasn’t until a few days later when we introduced sweet potato, broccoli etc that he started having issues

Sounds to me like a dairy issue? Does it happen after the milk and porridge then?

I did consider this, but before when he was only having his milk he was absolutely fine would it just come on randomly?
