Advice needed on weaning and feeding issues - long, sorry.

I don't really know where to post this as I have quite a few issues. aaauuuugggggggghhhhhh.

DS2 is 24 weeks and I started weaning him 10 days ago as it weight gain was slow. He was exclusivly BF. I started vary gradually on baby rice then added a bit of pureed pair and he has also had some pureed carot. Within a day of beginning he developed a cough and cold which he still has and he seems to be more unhappy. I know that this is probably down to the cold etc but I just don't know - could it be the solids? Could it be a reaction to the rice, pear and carot? Also his first tooth arrived 2 weeks ago so some of the misery could be another tooth on the way.

I am also concerned as he has started to feed on the end of my nipple iykwim rather than have a mouthfull. Could this be because of his tooth? I am sure it is not becasue he isn't hungry as I still only offer him a small amount of solds. He is tongue tied so i feel quite anxious about his feeding habits anyway (has always bf'd well though).

I don't know whether to stop the solds until he is defo over his cough and cold. Carry on and hpe to see an improvment. If i do carry on would it be wise to introduce another food?

God, you wouldn't believe I have done all this before would you . I seem to be having a crisis of confidence at the moment .

I'd leave it for now. He's getting far more calories from bm than from the rice etc, so if his weight gain has slowed (and remember than bf babies do usually slow against the red book charts at this point), then what he needs is more bm.

The nipple feeding is prob about his tooth, but why not go to a bf support group for a bfc to take a look and give you some advice.

Thaks for the advice. Yes, i think i'll see the bfc at a group i go to. I'm not sure I can give him any more bf's as he feed every 3 ish hours anyway and sleeps through.
