Mouth rash after clementine?

So my partner was letting our 8 month old nibble on some pieces of clementine while I was making her dinner, and about 20 minutes later she got this red blotches/rash around her mouth. She's acting normally, not at it or anything, but I'm kind of freaking out. I'd ring my doctor but he's closed at this time. I've read oranges can cause a mouth rash due to the acidity but can't find anything on clementines. Would it be safe to assume it applies to them too?

Thank you so much! That's what I was hoping, I'll still keep an eye on it but you've eased my mind a lot. I'll keep that in mind too for when she has stuff with tomato in it

I was allergic to citrus fruit and tomatoes as a child and it manifested itself in a red rash around the mouth.

Very common, happened to my LO with strawberries. We happened to be next door to a chemist, so we popped in and I held her up to the pharmacist and asked “is this normal?” She said yes, so off we went on our merry way.

More than a decade later, and she’s fine with strawberries and all other fruit.

Did you ever have any other symptoms or just a rash? I'm terrified of it being a dangerous allergic reaction, but so far shes still doing ok

DC2 had this with egg as a baby/toddler. (They're now a student and eat about 4 eggs a day!)

No other symptoms. I grew out of the allergies.

I get a rash from pineapple
it’s ok when I pop pieces straight into my mouth
just not when it touches the skin around my mouth

StarTwirl · 07/05/2025 20:49

It’s more of a sensitivity than allergy in my case
