am I right in thinking they are an allergy risk at a young age or have I dreamt that one up?

DS is 7 months and was thinking of giving him pasta but then wondered...

I'd say it's whenever you think your washing machine is up to the job

Seriously though, I haven't heard that it's anything other than fine for 6mo+.

I gave my DC versions of [baby] pasta and bolognaise at 6mo, or in the great "old days" 7yrs ago when you weaned them at 4 months, a bit sooner than 6mo. DS1 is a fantastically allergy-endowed child and has no probs with tomatoes (thank heaven) don't know about an allergy risk from them. Like anything you feed them, the wise way is to introduce one thing at a time and then you know what they're getting and can nail down any reaction quite quickly.
