Hi Stefka, sorry I am stalking you!

I've just been doing a search on threads re going back to work esp to teaching, and your name keeps coming up so I wondered if we could chat!

(and I know this isn't the right forum but it's where I'd "seen" you most recently!)

What have you decided to do? I'm in bits at the moment stressing over FT vs PT etc...I didn't think I had any option but to go back FT - now that we've looked at money etc I might be able to manage 3/4 days - but I'm new to teaching too and have only just got a perm post - think my HT will go crazy...

Sorry for stalking you, feel free to ignore me, but please do reply if you fancy a chat!

Hi!

Someone just told me about this thread. At the moment for me things are still up in the air. I had been applying for full time jobs but having no luck. DH and I then decided that we were not comfortable with DS going into nursary full time so it's part time or bust for me! Trouble is there are no part time jobs coming up in my subject. I have a horrible feeling that I might have to do a day or two of supply just to keep my hand in. Not sure I can handle that to be honest.

It's brilliant you have a position! Lucky you! I don't think you should worry too much about your HT. You have to put yourself first because the school never will!

Thanks Stefka! I take it you are secondary? Secondary supply sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it!

Luckily my DH works shifts so DD will be with him for a fair part of the time I'm at work...but I still think part time would be a better option for all of us...

Having spoken to the LA it looks like I'd have to do at least a term FT before they process the flexible working application...

It's hard isn't it? How old will your DS be in August?

He will be 10 months. I am secondary yes - and I am not sure my nerves can take doing supply to be honest. I am ok with behaviour management in my own subject but I find it really hard in other classes where I don't know the subject/pupils. I had to do a bit of it at the end of my probation year in my own school because they weren't keeping me on and the change the timetable in June. It was awful. I was pregnant at the time though which doesn't help.

Great that your DH can do some of the chldcare - that makes a big difference. It's so bloody expensive apart from anything else! I hope you can get part time sorted soon- life is too short to not be doing what you want!
