11 month old ate blue cheese!

My dad was baby sitting on Friday and told me he was eating some blue cheese and my 11 month old had some. I’m worried because today he’s had a temp, been grouchy and tired. I’ve googled that blue cheese can cause listeria however he doesn’t warrant an assessment by 111/A&E as he’s still eating and drinking bottles, temp comes down with calpol. I think I just want some reassurance that the chance of listeria is low. I don’t want to say anything to my dad as I don’t want him to feel bad 😣

He will be fine. Blue cheese is unlikely to be raw anyway so no issues (unless from specialist cheese place ie not from supermarket).

Wait till 12 months is the general guide but that's an arbitrary age, they have to draw the line at a round number. Some 11 month old babies are bigger and heartier than some 13 month old babies.

Was your ds premature or low birth weight, or have any other health issues? If not then I reckon it's a tiny tiny risk.

Very low risk.

Thanks for your replies, it was a supermarket one so I’m assuming it’s pasteurised! Also hoping symptoms wouldn’t have started this early so hoping it’s just coincidence. He was 8lb and born full term, he’s also a very good weight now 😅

Sounds like a complete coincidence. Glad he enjoyed it Wink
