Baby eats everything! Should I limit how much I offer?

We've been weaning for a week and a half now, and DS is loving it. The first time I tried baby rice he grabbed the spoon and shoved it in his mouth then demanded more. Since then I've tried banana (another great success) and then banana and rice together. Today I'm going to try sweet potato. I need to know about quantities to give. I started off with about 15 ml, that all disappeared, I have been making up gradually more every day, and so far he's finished everything. At the weekend I started to give him banana at lunch time and rice in the evening, and yesterday he had a whole small banana at lunch and 120 ml baby rice at tea time. In both cases, he then had a full breast feed afterwards. Am I overfeeding him? I'm trying to be led by his appetite, but his appetite seems to be limitless! he's not an especially big baby, at the last weigh-in he was on the 50th centile. I'm afraid he'll be off the top of the graph at this rate! He's 24 weeks, btw (I know he's not 6 months yet, but HV told me to make a start because he was sitting up and stealing food from me)

I keep looking at the little pots I bought for storing purees and thinking that they look awfully small. How much are babies supposed to eat?

Can you bf first, and then give solids? If you do that you need not worry about how much he eats. So long as you are giving good food such as you describe, you can't go wrong.

My dd1 has always had a big appetite. She put on 19 oz in the first week of weaning. She's a big girl (into my clothes now and she's only 13) but not obese.

Yes i would agree with the last post. try breastfeeding first and then the solids. good luck!
