Past two days DS has had some baby rice around 5pm (this is the best time of day for both of us to start the weaning process as he's breastfed on demand and this is the only time of every day that I know he wants food!). When do I give him either more babyrice or move on to the veg/fruit purees I have in the freezer? he's been loving the baby rice so far...

How old is your DS? I spent a week or two giving 5mo+2 DS porridge and / or fruit / veg puree at about 11am, then added in an afternoon feed of veg puree. 2 weeks after that I added in a breakfast feed at around 9, between her morning feeds, and shunted the other two feeds back slightly. So now we bf at 7ish, breakfast at 9, have lunch around 11.30 - 12 with another bf, then bf around 3.30, then tea between 4.30 - 5.30, with another bf before bed at 7. She usually has a night bf around 4am, so five bfs in total. It is an all day task! Am trying to decide whether to start giving a bottle (of formula) during the day to give myself a bit of a break. But she has never really taken a bottle - can't get her to use a cup with spout either.

FYI advice I have read says that evening is not the best time to introduce new foods because you want to be able to monitor reaction for longer than an hour or two before bed. Also, apparently meat takes longer to digest so should not be eaten just before bed (think that was Annabel Karmel but not sure why it should be true). But none of that is relevant to baby rice so I would ignore it for now!

Hope that helps.
