Fussy 22 month old!

Does anyone else’s toddler have a habit of happily eating something and then then suddenly spit it out, but then carry on eating?

it’s a habit I’ve noticed in my 22 month old recently. This evening she has done it to me with her dinner, happily eating her food then suddenly starts spitting it out sticking her tongue out but then shovels another spoonful in her mouth.

it happens with snacks, meals…the other day she walked around taking bites out of an apple, chewing and then spitting it out all around my living room!

she’s really fussy with her food anyway (we have just had a dairy allergy diagnosis for her and we are finding our feet with new food and flavours) but I can’t work out if this is developmental, behavioural or something else!

thank you!!

My DS is also 22 months and has been doing this for a good few months! Sometimes even re eats what he’s just spat out 🤦🏻‍♀️ there’s some foods he doesn’t like the texture of and will always do it to (mash potato, rice) but he will also fairly regularly do it with his favourite foods and then carry on eating them. I just assumed it was developmental!
