DS losing interest, I am losing heart

DS is 7 months old next week, and has been weaned for about 5/6 weeks. It all started very well, he ate everything and happily too - but now he is refusing almost every meal, and gagging constantly. I haven't been introducing new tastes as he is being so awkward, but even his old favourites are getting turned away!
The only way to get him to eat up is to give him lots of bowls and spoons to play with and he is too distracted to notice. He finishes the lot when I do this, but am I getting him into a habit I will regret?
I am finding weaning so darned stressful - fun til they are one?!

Try cutting out everything sweet except fresh fruit. Then starve him a bit. [evil]

Well, with food and babies/toddlers it is often a case of swings and roundabouts, I'm afraid. Sometimes they will and sometimes they won't. Just don't get stressed. He'll eat if he's hungry. Honestly.

Have you tried baby led weaning by the way? Someone far more expert than I will be along to tell you about it soon, I'm sure.

I think you are supposed to avoid strawberries, among other foods, in case of allergy, till they are older...
