I am trying to get my 7 month old dd to eat meat. I have made a chicken puree with 2tsps commercial pesto watered down, which I subsquently realised contains salt (1.2g sodium per 100g, with 3g "salt equivalent" whatever that is). Is this Ok to feed her or should I chuck it?

oh definitely don't chuck it, if you're concerned about salt today because you knwo she's already had loads then just freeze it for another day. dd used to eat pasta and pesto at that age, i always reasoned that she wasn't actually eating that much pesto, iykwim?

PS next time you're having a casserole, give your dd a baby fist-sized hunk of meat and watch her suck it to death.

It's the pine nuts in pesto which would bother me, rather than the salt...
