Gags then sick when given lumpy food

My baby is coming up 10 months and weaning since 6 months. Both mashed/blended food and big finger food 3 meals a day.
Every time we give her lumpyer food she gags and then usually sicks up everything she has eaten. Because of this I've been worried she isn't getting enough food so then revert back to very smooth food and big finger food again.
However I'm desperate for her to eat our food without having to blend it so much! How do I get her to actually eat lumpy food? Today she was sick on lumpy cottage pie.

Secondly, how do you get your baby to eat pincer grip finger foods? I currently give large cucumber sticks/brocoli etc which she chomps on but can't imagine giving her the smaller things like halved berries (I tried squashed berries recently and she gagged and threw up!).
Any advice would be much appreciated. I've asked the hv and they just direct me to nhs weaning meal suggestion site which doesn't actually help me solve this issue.

Mine was like this with lumpy food. I just went backwards for a while and tried again. She was fine by the time she was two.
I remember going back to work when she was one and leaving DH with smooth foods as I didn’t trust him if she choked!

Have you tried her with any pincer grip foods yet? And is broccoli and cucumber sticks the only finger foods that you're offering?

Mine had issues too something gets stuck i don't know what it was. Fine now at 5. I just avoided the foods that did it and re tried a few months years later

Just give it time.

Princer grip needs practice so anything that encourages that will get her there eventually.

Have a Google 'how can I help my baby develop pincer grip' and see if there is anything you can add into your activities.

Well start with things like Cheerios, peas, sweetcorn DC can pincer pick up and go soggy in the mouth.

I didn't blend anything, most of her calories will be coming from milk so I would just feed her what you have and let her play and use her fingers and expect the mess and be prepared to dunk in the bath.

@FairRoseFox My friend’s baby was just like this- A yoghurt with lumps and he’d be gagging and vomiting- It was soo gross!

Don’t worry about it
Just do the smooth food and the bigger chewy food-
You won’t be pressing food through a sieve forever!
😂

( Friend’s baby grew up just fine!)
