Cows milk??

My daughter has just turned one and the HV has said to introduce cows milk in place of formula. Just wanted some advice as to how other people have switched? - do you mix it with the formula or just swap straight to cows milk?? also do I still need to boil drinking water for her?

You certainly dont need to boil drinking water. SOrry, dont know about how to replace the forumla.

I mixed half and half for a couple of weeks, and then went to straight cows milk. I did it feed by feed though, so I did breakfast milk half and half first, then bedtime, and then switched over b/fast and then bedtime. Just so it wasn't too much of a change all at once, IYSWIM.

I started introducing 1 bottle of cows milk then increased over a couple of weeks.

Jan - I'm glad you asked about the drinking water - I am still boiling (dd 10mo today!) - do I not need to bother?

I wouldn't for a 10 month old.

Right - so it's no more boiling water for her to drink! that will feel strange. I'll try and start on the cows milk as well. Thanks for advice.

you don't need to boil after 6 mos afaia. and i did a splash of cow and then a bit more etc etc in dd's bottle and she never once noticed the difference.

Just try giving the cows' milk straight off for all feeds instead of formula - you might find, as I did, that your daughter doesn't even notice the difference.
