this would be for purely selfish reasons i admit...i go back to work for 2 wks when dd will be 6mths+1wk. then off again for 6wks hols when she is 6mths+3wks. tempted to wait until i have that 6wk stretch free with her...would that be too late? she is bf. thanks!

of course it is... the 6 months thing isn't the law, it's just a rough guideline. Do what's best for you both. And don't listen to hv bollocks about missing any windows of opportunity- all adults eat normal solid food, they won't all have been weaned on the dot of 6 months old.

neolara · 29/04/2008 20:10

My DS refused to eat any solids at all until he was 8 months. He eats for Britain now. So I should think you'll be absolutely fine.

ExtraFancy · 29/04/2008 20:10

She'll be fine! My DS didn't really start eating very much of anything until about 7 months.

lucykate · 29/04/2008 20:10

ds was over 7 months old before he'd even go near a spoon

Caz10 · 29/04/2008 21:00

thanks, that's what I thought, and have actually just spotted in the Gill Rapley stuff it says "towards the end of the 6th month". Cheers!

Go for it. Didn't even start putting food in front of ds until he was 6m2w for similar reasons. He is 9 month now and eats more than his big sister.

Towards the end of 6th month is 5 and bit months though

helenelisabeth · 29/04/2008 21:05

DD is 7.5 months and only just showing an interest in eating off a spoon. She will be fine.

madcol · 29/04/2008 21:05

I didn't eat solids til I was one. You've never know form looking at me now.

FairyMum · 29/04/2008 21:06

DS2 didn't eat solids until he was 14 months...He was absolutely fine. Added a few grey hairs to my head though
