Hi,
quick one - My DD is a week away from 6 months and we started weaning her this week but today she has started sprouting chicken pox spots (caught from her brother, school age) … Do I continue? As what if any kind of reaction makes her worse…

I’m not talking normal allergens as I would just avoid, im talking even rare ones of route veg and such, do I just keep her on milk this week?

TIA

If it was me I would hold off until she's better

Thanks @lemondropsandchimneytops :)

I would wait too! A few weeks or so won't make any difference in her weaning journey :)
Babies tend to eat less when they're not well anyway, no point trying to instil a new routine whilst poorly (in my opinion) 😊

Happened to my LO at 6.5 months. I just held off until he was better and started again x

Thank you :)
I think I’m going to stay clear of introducing anything new, we’ve so far tried around 4/5 things and I may just offer a little taste of one of those every day until she’s better and if she shows signs of not wanting or just being off her milk, I’ll just stick with milk on those occasions.

Weaning is never linear so it's fine to start stop and start again. Just give her the milk feeds and lots of comfort. Hope she's feeling better soon.

DD had it at about 5 and seemed to survive on Jubbilys Grin

Thank you!
also, another Q… Given oats are an allergen, I’ve done a little tester on her leg (Aveeno Oats soak) and left for a few hours, no reaction - Do we think an oat bath should be okay?

Was she any better after the bath? One tip I was given when DD had Chicken Pox was to apply Calamine Lotion via a spray bottle rather than using cotton wool.

DD had CP at 8 months and went right off solids anyway.
